the City of Asheville
invites residents to weigh in
It has been over a year in the making.
Meetings, workshops, focus groups, key pads, white boards, photographs, essays, charts, graphics, data, visions, plans, maps, presentations, spreadsheets, interviews, videos, display boards, edits, flyers, logos, surveys, reports, updates, blog posts, press releases, tweets, emails, comment cards, posted notes, themes and big ideas. And now it is finally coming together.
Today, the City of Asheville is ready to release a draft of Living Asheville: A Comprehensive Plan for Our Future (the Plan). A comprehensive plan is a community’s vision for its future, and once adopted, it will be used as an important guiding document for City staff and decision makers for the next 15-20 years. And while many of you have been involved through our public engagement efforts over the past twelve months, we need to hear from you now more than ever. Please review the draft plan and provide your input here.

Meetings and coffeehouse chats coming up
There will also be multiple opportunities during the month of June to get involved, learn more and discuss your thoughts in person.
- A public meeting and reception will be held at the Dr. Wesley Grant, Sr. Southside Center from 6-8 p.m. June 28. Join the Department of Planning and Urban Design staff and the Skidmore Owings and Merrill Planning Team as they present the Draft of Living Asheville: A Comprehensive Plan for our Future. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about where we are in the process and offer additional input. Help us make sure that the Plan accurately reflects the collective voice of Asheville. Light refreshments will be provided.
- Join staff from the Department of Planning and Urban Design on Friday, June 16, and Friday, June 23, from 1-3 p.m. at the newly renovated Arts and Culture Dispensary (14 Riverside Drive) in the River Arts District to chat about Living Asheville: A Comprehensive Plan for Our Future. This is a drop-in session where city staff will be available to meet with interested citizens to share information about the planning process and answer questions about the Draft Plan. Take this opportunity learn more about how the comprehensive plan will affect you. Plus get a first peek at the transformation of this great historic building.
- Coffeehouse Chats are another opportunity to give feedback to City staff. You are invited to chat with us at any of the following times and locations:

11 a.m.-noon at Edna’s of Asheville, 870 Merrimon Avenue
June 21
11 a.m.-noon at Filos, 1155 Tunnel Road
2-3 p.m. at Green Sage, 1800 Hendersonville Road
June 22
5:30-7 p.m. at the Edington Center Community Room, 133 Livingston Street
