New Federal Housing Administration policies expand financing for Accessory Dwelling Units, supporting the City of Asheville’s housing policy
The city announces that the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) just released a new policy that now expands access to mortgage financing for homes that have or will include Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). ADUs are also known as backyard cottages, mother-in-law suites, basement apartments, ancillary units, carriage houses, and garage apartments. The City of Asheville supports ADUs as a way to spur the development of more affordable housing options and promote diversity in the types of housing choices available for residents.

This event is aimed at bringing together neighbors from all corners of Asheville with the primary goal of strengthening the bond between residents, neighborhood associations, and local organizations to create a harmonious and thriving community.

City of Asheville updates on the Carter-Ann-Patton stormwater improvement project
Starting Sunday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m. contract work will begin that spans across Patton Ave. from the south to the north side. To ensure crew and community safety, there will be a full road closure from N. French Broad Ave. down to N. Ann Street. This will take place at night only (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) to minimize traffic disruption and impact on area businesses and the community. To further minimize impact, the area will be open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the duration of this phase.
