Take a #cityhallselfie on Aug. 15, Asheville

On any given day you will find people snapping pictures of themselves in front of Asheville City Hall. The distinctive, eight-story eclectic Art Deco masterpiece designed by Douglas D. Ellington and built in the 1920s serves as a perfect placemaking backdrop for visitors and locals alike. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Asheville City Hall has been the setting for many a social media selfie.

On Aug. 15, the City of Asheville invites you to make a selfie in front of City Hall as part of national #cityhallselfie day. Please use the hashtags #Asheville #cityhallselfie to celebrate not only our historic headquarters but also a unity of connection many feel to Asheville.

Look for City Hall selfies of City staff, individually and in groups from many departments, on #cityhallselfie day too.

Organized by Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL), this national snapshot of communities in front of their city halls asks that people use the #cityhallselfie hashtag on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter. We ask that you add #Asheville to show the nation where we are.

So swing on by Asheville City Hall on Aug. 15. Smile into your smartphone camera and show your pride in Asheville!
